2010  Festival State Cup

Classes
All classes are run according to class specifications in the 2010 AKA Karting Manual, plus Sportsman SA and Sportsman 125 classes will run to the specifications as agreed by the AKA of SA ... see these rules here

The classes offered in 2010 are:

Format
The 2010 Festival State Cup series will be contested over 5 rounds for all classes,  with classes split into two groups.  Participant’s final points are calculated from the four rounds in which they scored the highest points (i.e. the driver’s best 4 rounds).

All classes will get 4 heats at each round. The starting position for the first heat will be drawn randomly with the second heat being the reverse of the first.  Accrued points from the first two heats (lowest points to the front using 0,2,3 system) will determine the grid positions for the third heat.  The fourth heat will be gridded on the finishing order of the third heat.  The overall positions will be determined by the accumulation of points from the 4 heats (lowest points = highest place).

Scoring System
The system used for all heats ( and finals when run for oversubscribed classes ) will be the 0, 2, 3, 4 point system.  The championship points system will be used giving non-finishers in any heat a position in order of laps completed.    In the event of an oversubscribed class, all non-finishers in the heats are given 1 more point than the number of competitors in their race and non-finishers in the final will be allocated the track density plus 1.  Where points are tied, competitors will be separated using rule 19.21 in the current rulebook.

The series scoring system is different to the scoring used at each round.  All competitors receive points form each round they enter in, the maximum being 50.  The overall winner of the round receives 50 points towards their series score, second place 48, third 47, fourth 46 and so on down the field.  Where there is a tie in the overall series points, the competitor with the most number of 1sts (50 points) wins the tie.  If they have no firsts, then ties are separated by number of seconds, thirds and so on until they can be separated.  If the tied competitors have exactly the same result, then they will be separated based on the number of race wins, seconds, thirds and so on from each individual round.

Note that only the points and races from a driver's four eligible rounds will be factored into a tied situation.

Round and Series prizes
Each club will present trophies for the individual rounds on the day. Series trophies will be awarded at the end of the series along with the top eight competitors receiving a numberplate with their appropriate number on it. This may only be used in the class that it was obtained and can only be run in this State. These numbers are only eligible from the 1st of January to the 31st of December in the following year to that in which it was won.

Entry Fee
The entry fee will be set at $60 per entry per round for the Rotax classes and  $50 per entry per round for all other classes.
